Choosing Your Newborn Care Specialist/Postpartum Doula

To accommodate a range of needs, experience levels, and budgets, we provide two options when it comes to choosing your guide:

Postpartum Doulas and Newborn Care Specialists* all provide support to families with newborns. There are subtle differences between the two, but with us, you get the best of both worlds! We’re happy to care for your baby AND you, and help with whatever you need. We’ll help you figure out how you want to parent, without pushing you into any particular philosophy. We’ll support whatever choices you want to make, completely without judgment, offering suggestions and advice to make things as smooth and easy as possible. We use the term “doula” and “NCS” interchangeably, but there’s nothing to decide between – we’re the perfect hybrids, trained and experienced as both.

*NCS's are sometimes called "night nurses", but we don't use that term because we're not licensed medical professionals.

We offer support for....

Daytime Care

Geared at first time parents who want well-trained, super-experienced help in anything and everything from breastfeeding to meal prep to light housekeeping to organizing baby stuff - our Super Doulas are here for you.

Overnight Care

Hiring an Overnight Doula is truly one of the most magical things you can do for your sanity and the health of your family. Our Post Partum Doulas are also Newborn Care Specialists, which means they are trained and experienced in caring for your newborn - while you sleep.

Live In Care

You need around the clock support to care for your baby, but it doesn't stop there. Our doulas are there to assist you during your recovery, guide you through the first stages of new parenthood, make sure everyone is fed and much more.

DAYTIME CARE

Cue the dramatic music…

You need a Daytime Newborn Care Specialist

It’s like parent training and baby care all rolled into one beautiful Superhero of a woman. Let us come to YOUR rescue.

OVERNIGHT CARE

Magic Unicorn Rides

AKA Overnight Doula Care

The ultimate hand-holding (and baby holding!) with a doula by your side. Overnight care will allow your NCS to attend to your baby’s needs while you sleep, so that you can rest easy. We’ll get your baby into good sleep habits, and take care of basic house tasks.

Imagine waking up and riding a unicorn down a rainbow of well-rested joy.

(Ok, we can’t guarantee the appearance of unicorns or rainbows, but we CAN ensure the most rest and peace of mind you’ve gotten in weeks - or months - which is bound to feel like a unicorn ride.)

Hiring an Overnight Doula is truly one of the most magical things you can do for your sanity and the health of your family.

Our Postpartum Doulas are also Newborn Care Specialists, which means they are trained and experienced in caring for your newborn - while you sleep.

What will your overnight doula do?

Your Overnight Doula will arrive at your home in the evening and she will:
  • Talk with you a bit to digest the day and answer any questions you might have
  • Let you fall asleep in peace
  • Keep a watchful eye on your little angel while she folds your laundry, washes bottles/dinner dishes/whatever
  • Bring the baby to you for nursing when it’s time, or bottle feed if that’s your jam
  • Let you fall back asleep in peace
  • Take care of any burping, poopy diaper changing, re-swaddling, or settling back to sleep
  • Work toward naturally improving your baby’s sleep
  • Let you continue sleeping in peace

Concerned about bonding time?

There are some who think that having overnight help takes away from the parents’ bonding time. Let me let you in on a little secret – you’re not missing much. The babies will mostly noisily sleep, poop, or be a bit fussy. Your doula is not having long bonding moments with your baby while you dream about Ryan Gosling your hubby. She is listening to him grunt, snuffle, and fart. She may have to hold him for a while, sitting up, because that’s the only way to keep him asleep. You do this PLENTY during the day, I’m sure! 2-3 (or even 5-7) nights a week of overnight care is going to make you a happier, healthier, better rested mama for your little one(s) during the day, I promise. And that is worth its weight in gold!

What results can you expect?

You wake up, ride a unicorn out of your bedroom, or possibly slide down a rainbow, refreshed and ready to have an awesome day with your baby!

Depending on your preferred schedule, you may want to enjoy coffee and breakfast before taking over baby duty, or even *gasp* have a long, hot shower.

By the way, twin parents find overnight care incredibly helpful, too. Doulas are experienced in juggling more than one baby, so all parents can get a good night’s sleep.
